Collecting Your Data

On our website, we collect your data when you register with us through the online forms on our website in order to facilitate the matching between music teachers and students. You are not allowed to provide information of someone else (for example, family members or friends) without their consent.

We may also collect your data through other forms (such as through Google Forms created by us), phone calls, emails, messages etc.

Using Your Data

We require your data to facilitate our music lesson matching services, to analyse the trends and information in order to improve our website, and to ensure the quality and trustworthiness of our service, etc.

By providing your contact details to us, you allow us to send you marketing emails or messages regarding our upcoming events. However, we are fully compliant with the Do Not Call Register (DNC) requirements and do not send any unsolicited messages to the general public.

When you register with us as a teacher or a client (student), you agree to receive updates on assignments or updates on shortlisted teachers through messages, emails or phone calls. Details such as the teacher’s full name, age, race, qualifications, partial address (if the lesson is held at the teacher’s house), available timings, teaching rate, etc. may be revealed to the clients (students) during the matching service. Details like the student’s full age, partial address (if the lesson is held at the student’s house), preferences etc. may be revealed to the teachers during the matching service.

In order to provide music lesson matching services, we may use the teacher’s information as a form of advertisement on our online and offline platforms (for example, our website and social media). Such information includes: the teacher’s first name, pictures (profile pictures or pictures of the teacher taken at our events), qualifications, experiences etc. However, we will not provide any extremely personal data such as the teacher’s last name, email address, phone number, bank details, address etc.

For our clients (students), we may reveal your address (no unit number will be revealed) on our online and offline platforms to inform teachers about the assignment available. We will not however reveal your name or contact details on any of our platforms.

We will only reveal the full client’s / tutor’s address and name depending on where the lessons will be held after the confirmation is made. However, the contact details will not be revealed. Nonetheless, the client’s (student’s) and/or teacher’s contact number may be revealed in unforeseen circumstances such as the teacher is already at the door of the client’s and vice-versa.

We reserve the right to retain any personal data collected. However, you may send a request to us to remove your information from our records at least 7 days before the required deletion date. We may however retain some of your personal data internally for records (accounting and book-keeping) purposes.

Verifying Of Teacher’s Qualifications

The client (student) is allowed to request for the teacher to bring his/her certificates on the first lesson. The teacher has to comply with this requirement. The client (student) may also request to see proof of the certificates prior to confirming. However, this will depend on the consent from the teacher whom we will seek permission from prior to sending any files to the client (student).

The client (student) may also request to speak to the teacher. However, this will be done as a conference call with both Ragtime Music, the client (student) and the teacher in the same call.
